Beck and Cat Fan Fiction - Part 1: Pure Pity.
Leaning against my locker tiresomely, with Jade at my side explaining the features of her brand new scissors to me in perfect detail, I yawned multiple times until I immediately snapped up when I felt strange motions in the pit of my stomach as the person I had been anxiously waiting to see arrived at school.
“Hey guys!” Cat beamed, giggling her words.
She was obviously drowning out the events that had occurred the night before when she visited my RV for a class assignment we had to work on. I didn’t think anything was actually going to happen, and of course, both Cat and I were oblivious that anything COULD happen. But it did, and the urge to talk to her about it has been tugging at my collar since she left last night, quietly and awkwardly.
“Cat, I need to talk to you,” I said with a serious expression, as her smile faded, then reappeared when she diverted her gaze from my face to Jade’s, who unsurprisingly was more interested in her scissors than anything that was happening around her. Cat nodded and I said my quick goodbyes to Jade then made my way to the empty hallway which was located outside the room where tech theatre was taught with Cat by my side.
She switched her brown eyes from object to object. Any object that was in sight, “What do you want to talk about, Beck?”
I hesitated to get out what I was about to say, but I got a load of confidence wave over me once I gathered what I need to say.
“We need to talk about what happened last night.”
She giggled, totally oblivious, “What do you mean?”

I opened the door of my RV to see tiny little Cat standing in the driveway with a joyful smile that appears on her face when met by anyone or anything that she’s glad to see.
“Hi, Beck!” She squealed.
I smiled slightly, running my hand through my hair and stepping aside so she could enter the RV.
“I love your RV, It’s so cute and cozy. My brother used to have a RV, but he went camping and he accidentally let it roll into the river. And then when he was stranded by himself, he was met with a bear, and it tried to attack him, but he got away. He’s home now,” she smiled, as she set her rainbow patterned bag on my bed.
“Oh yeah?” I said, furrowing my eyebrows.
“Yeah… should we get started on the assignment?” She smiled, looking excited.
“Sure, what have you got so far?”
“Before we start, can I ask you something?”
“Sure, Cat. What is it?” I sighed, of course she was oblivious that all I wanted to do was get this stupid assignment over and done with.
“What’s it like…” she began.
I frowned, “What’s what like?”
“T-to be with someone, like.. to be in a relationship? Daniel was the best and real boyfriend I have ever had. Boys don’t like to date me as much as they would like to Tori or Jade.”
I felt sympathy for Cat, she is a beautiful girl, but I knew what she meant by guys not wanting to date her. She can be very… perky. Perky about everything, even bad situations. It’s like, she just wants everything to be positive, and that she sees the good in every single thing that she meets.
“Cat…” I smiled, feeling the most pity I have ever felt for anybody.
She meekly giggled and looked down, “It’s fine, you don’t have to answer that if you don’t want to. I just don’t like people thinking I’m.. dumb or annoying.”
“I’m sorry, I really don’t know what to say,” I replied, feeling terrible.
She nodded, with a small smile.

After about two straight hours of working, and after Cat had asked me the question that I just couldn’t answer, we decided to watch a movie, and relax.
“Hmm…” Cat said, contemplating on which of the five movies I had set out to watch.
“How about.. this one?” I said, pointing to ‘Saw.’
“No, no, no, no, nooo!” She shrieked. “Too scary.”
I laughed, “C’mon, I’ll protect you,” I mocked the line that guys usually say to girls in movies to get into their pants. I immediately took back what I said once I realised the words that had slipped from my lips. Thankfully, Cat didn’t understand what the real meaning was. She just thought that I was joking around, which I honestly was.
She giggled, “How about this one?”
I nodded, approvingly, and put the movie on as Cat made her way to sit on the far side of my bed.
“‘She’s The Man’ is one of my favourite movies,” she giggled.
“I would rather watch Saw,” I laughed, sitting next to Cat on my bed.

About half way through the movie, I tilted my head to look at Cat. She was leaning her elbow against the pane of the bulletproof window next to her. We purchased this from a rapper, you see. Anyway, her head was rest on her hand, and she fluttered her long eyelashes slowly.
“Listen, Cat… About what you asked me before-“
“Beck, It’s cool. You don’t have to worry about my silly little problemos,” she giggled.
Out of the blue, I felt the sudden urge to just lean in and kiss her, but kept telling myself in my mind not to because It was completely wrong. But I carelessly followed what I wanted to do. I placed my finger under her chin, feeling guilty towards Jade already, but It’s not like I could go back now. Cat looked at me confused. Memories of how things ended between her and Daniel made me want to do it even more. She is nothing but nice to everyone, and people treat her with more disrespect than she should be able to handle. And she hands out forgiveness like candy around at Christmas time.
“Beck..” she giggled quietly, bewildered. “What are you doing?”
I ignored her question, and before I knew it, my lips were pressed against hers. Despite that this was wrong, It surprisingly felt right.

“That kiss last night..” I sighed.
“You don’t have to explain, Beck. It was just a pity kiss,” she grinned, looking totally understanding. But that wasn’t what It was at all.
“No, Cat, you don’t understand..”
“I do, It’s fine,” she giggled. “I gotta go, bye!”
“Cat,” I said, grabbing her wrist as she began to stroll away. “That kiss was not out of pity. At first I thought It was, but when It actually happened, It felt like so much more. I felt like kissing you was the right thing to do.”
I could see an incredibly worried facial appearing on her face, and to her luck, the siren sounded, “I have to go. My teacher hates me being late. See you at lunch.”
I sighed, “Well, we have Sikowitz, we can walk together?” I suggested, hoping to fix things with her.
“I’m going to the ladies on the way,” she said, speeding away.
I had really done wrong this time, to both Jade and Cat.
